It’s kinda stupid, maybe in the future it could be used, but right now most movies are filmed in 16:9 so that format isn’t really used, yet. But still, it is better than 4:3 xD

would playing a game like Modern Warfare 2 just stretch the game? or woukd it just cut of the top and bottom

  • LittleLlion says:

just buy a screen with the same width but 16:9 ratio if you want to spend 3 grand…

  • southparkgtaca says:

TVs will keep getting wider and wider…… Pretty soon a taller screen will be a selling point. lol

  • derial1988 says:

    ??? ?? ????? ?????? 4000$

  • PatrickBateman47 says:

And TV program and movie in 16:9 like Hellboy or Sherlock Holmes? 21:9 is shit, another commercial fraud especially for those who have just bought it because now released the 21:9 3D, great deal genius XD ahahah.

  • champion1642 says:

for video games, I would say you should buy a 16:9 TV at full HD, its perfect for almost everything which is broadcast, and video games, except for a growing number of movies.

  • champion1642 says:

or a sliding TV, which slides outwards…. now that would be cool, even have the ability to go to 4:3 ratio….

  • champion1642 says:

that’s an opinion, not all directors feel that standardized ratio takes out the art of filming, cos the art of filming is mostly in the way you approach a scene. in my opinion though, they are just making TV’s height smaller and more wider, which actually limits you view of the screen, like looking at a letter box, unless you get a extra huge TV. 16:9 is wide enough,

  • vaultboy123 says:

So that they can sell us new TVs? I dunno.

  • schuriken says:

not every director wants a widescreen shot you know. how can they settle in one aspect ratio if for example someone wants to shoot old style. the black bars will still be there. they should make an old style movie with full widescreen shots though hahaha

  • champion1642 says:

whoa calm down, I’m just questioning the high variety of aspect ratios there right now, and there isn’t 1 TV that will suit them all……

  • Yankeez says:

because tv shows, sports, news is filmed in 16:9 you fucking retard

  • rjpurk12 says:

because not evryone has a 21:9 ratio tv and ur wrong anyway. movies ar made at cinema ratio wich is 21:9 Dvd’s ar just downscaled to 16:9

  • ashurtz says:

That’s not the point…The director choses the aspect ratio depending on a variety reasons… sometimes they want it to be more up close and personal (16:9) sometimes they want a wider image, getting more shot in the frame (21:9). If you make them pick one standardized aspect ratio, you take all the creativity and art out of filmmaking.

  • ashurtz says:

because most TV is shot in 16:9 and some still in 4:3… Also a good amount of movies continue to be shot in 16:9. There really has been no need for a 21:9 TV until the digital age. It will take awhile to catch on

  • Punkdoggy800 says:

Yeah, or why not the movie producers use 16:9, every movie varys from 2.4:1, some are 2.35:1, so even this TV would not be exactly right for every movie, if only the movie industry could settle on one aspect ratio

  • champion1642 says:

this is stupid, if movies were made in 21:9 ratio, then why do TV companies make 16:9 TV’s why not just make 21:9 in the first place?!

  • DonswatchingtheTube says:

I saw this today in a store. It did look awesome! What happens when a film has subtitles? Does it crop the film? Could you imagine if original material was filmed in this format i.e. sporting events? Uk football fans will be shouting: “Oi”? “Ref”? “Off side”?

  • RossiSlipStream says:

I got this Television and you got Zoom capabilities wich is perfect when I’m playing games and watching Tv shows.

For sure later in the future they will create games and tv shows that also includes 21:9 :)

  • 123hardcoretyp says:

I’ld love to watch hd movies with 7.1 sound on that one, must be awesome. How much is it? And does it support frame doubling, so making 48 hz out of 24?

  • ssegura16 says:

I prefer watching the two black bars

  • Yooniverzal says:

    awesome for films.
    but for films only.
because if you watch a normal tv-show, you’ll have vertical black bars. they should make a fold-out tv, that can adjust itself on the stuff that’s displayed on the tv :D !

  • jamesyireland says:

it would be window boxed with a zoom for pillar box! This is the perfect ratio for movies ONLY!
